Deloitte Legal has announced that a dozen lawyers will be leaving White & Case in Poland — including Tomasz Ostrowski (who will take over at Deloitte Legal Warsaw as Managing Partner), Aneta Urban, Katarzyna Jakubiak, Sylwia Opiatowska, and Michal Oles — to join its Warsaw office.

According to Deloitte Legal, the expansion of its team "is one of the cornerstones of the firm’s long-term strategy to grow its legal advisory capabilities in the area of banking and finance."

“We are proud to announce that Deloitte Legal will be joined by a recognized team of such acknowledged experts in law," said Adam Mariuk, Partner in Charge, Tax & Legal, Deloitte Poland. "With a wealth of experience and knowledge, they will undoubtedly bring valuable insight for our clients. Expanding our legal advisory capabilities is also one of the core elements of Deloitte’s strategy in the long term. Our prior experience and expertise in banking and finance, combined with strong legal support for this area, will put us in an excellent position to provide comprehensive assistance and advice to the clients of Deloitte Legal."

On November 2, 2019, Aneta Urban (who joins as Local Partner), Katarzyna Jakubiak (Local Partner), Sylwia Opiatowska (Partner Associate), and Michał Oles (Partner Associate) will join Deloitte Legal, bringing another four lawyers with them, with Tomasz Ostrowski joining the firm early in 2021. Ostrowski has spent the past nine years as a Partner and Local Partner at White & Case, following nine years in the Warsaw office of Clifford Chance. According to Deloitte Legal, "his experience includes the provision of advisory services relating to the financing of acquisitions, business ventures, and real estate transactions. He also offers insight into corporate finance and financial restructuring projects." He obtained a Master's degree in Law in 2002 from the University of Warsaw.

“My colleagues and I will join Deloitte Legal, bringing our capabilities and experience to be combined with that of the existing legal team," said Aneta Urban. "I am convinced that together with Deloitte’s lawyers we will prove enormously successful, and aim to provide effective services to both existing and future clients of the firm.

The pandemic has posed numerous challenges for the banking sector, with many changes, including legislative ones, still likely to come," added Katarzyna Jakubiak. "We are ready to provide our clients with assistance and professional advice."

White & Case confirmed that Tomasz Ostrowski is leaving to join Deloitte Legal, and a firm representative stated that "we wish him well in the future."
