The RKKW law firm has helped the Historical Museum of Sanok, in Poland, respond to an offer to sell it a counterfeit version of a painting by Zdzislaw Beksinski from an American auction website.

Beksinski was a Polish painter, photographer, and sculptor specializing in dystopian surrealism who died in 2005, and according to RKKW, the Historical Museum in Sanok is the exclusive holder of copyrights to his work. According to the firm, the painting was offered on an American auction website as an original, and "the description of the auction contained specially prepared documents to indicate its alleged authenticity, [although] the original of the painting is in the collection of the National Museum in Szczecin." According to the firm, "the auction was removed from the auction platform immediately after receiving a summons indicating infringement of copyright."

“The authorities of the Historical Museum in Sanok express satisfaction with the effective intervention undertaken by the RKKW office," commented Historical Museum in Sanok Director Jaroslaw Serafin. "It is a clear signal that the market is being monitored more and more closely in terms of Beksinski's counterfeits, and similar attempts will be fought with full determination."

The RKKW team representing the museum included Partners Radoslaw Kwasnicki and Aneta Pankowska.
