Dentons has advised NEPI Rockcastle on a EUR 60 million green financing for Ploiesti Shopping City from a syndicate of lenders led by BRD Groupe Societe Generale.

NEPI Rockcastle is an investor and developer of shopping centers in Central and Eastern Europe.

According to Dentons, “the EUR 60 million loan falls into the category of green financing, meeting the criteria of 'substantial contribution to mitigating climate risks.' The financed property holds a 'BREEAM In-Use' sustainable certification with an 'Excellent' qualification, and a Class A energy performance certificate.”

“This new financing in ‘green format’ is another project that strengthens the group’s liquidity at attractive market terms and reflects our long-term commitment towards sustainability,” NEPI Rockcastle CFO Eliza Predoiu commented.

Earlier this year, Dentons advised NEPI Rockcastle on its acquisition of the Atrium Copernicus Shopping Center (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on January 10, 2023) and, in 2021, on its two loans from the IFC and a bank syndicate led by BRD-Groupe Societe Generale and the Garanti Bank (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on July 22, 2021).

The Dentons team included Bucharest-based Partners Simona Marin and Bogdan Papandopol, Senior Associates Stefi Ionescu and Luiza Onofrei, and Associates Alin Serea and Isabela Gheorghe as well as Amsterdam-based Partner Marcel Janssen and Associate Iris van Noort.
