AS Legal Advice has advised Golden Food Snacks on its acquisition of Derpan. EY-affiliated firm Bancila, Diaconu si Asociatii reportedly advised Golden Food Snacks on competition matters.

According to AS Legal Advice, Golden Food Snacks owns the Elmas brand, a business controlled by the Mitzalis family. “Golden Food Snacks introduced Fantastic Star to the Romanian market in 1994. The brand was then sold to Chipita, in 1999. Golden Foods Snacks, which has a factory in Filipestii de Padure, and whose main brand is Elmas, re-entered the Romanian market in October 2009. By purchasing Derpan, the Mitzalis family returns to the market in the field of pastry manufacturers and aims to develop the business in Central and Eastern Europe.”

Derpan, owned by the Ancuta family, is a Romanian bakery and pastry manufacturer.

AS Legal Advice's team included Coordinating Lawyers Cezara Szakacs and Raul Andriuc.

AS Legal Advice was unable to provide additional information on the deal.
