Popescu & Asociatii has announced that Gheorghe Buta joined the firm as a Senior Partner, in June 2022, to lead the firm's dispute and commercial arbitration practice areas.

Specializing in disputes and arbitration, Buta has over 40 years of experience working as a prosecutor and a judge at all levels of jurisdiction, according to the firm. He served as a judge at Romania's High Court of Cassation and Justice and held the position of President of the of high court’s Commercial Division. Buta was also the President of the Bistrita-Nasaud Tribunal and the President of the Cluj Court of Appeal. Between 2010 and 2020 he oversaw the litigation and arbitration practice at Musat & Asociatii, as a Senior Partner.
